A mental health day

So as many of you know the last few weeks have been very hard for my family. It has been even more of a struggle for me and my daughter we both have severe OCD issues. Schedules that we are used to have gone out the window and it is pretty much been fly by the seat of your pants for almost 3 weeks now. Honestly we have both done very well. But today after she got so anxious and almost had a breakdown over the video game not loading fast enough

Me I am exhausted and overwhelmed. But I just keep going because I know my family needs me to keep it together. But each day it feels a tiny bit harder.

Joel decided to talk to her and I. He told us that he felt that we both needed a mental health today. He had already talked with my buddy and he was going to take the boys to school tomorrow and Joel would pick them up when they got out of school and take them over to Grandma's for dinner. That way my daughter and I could just have a day of nothing. Neither one of us argued I think we both knew it was something that we needed. I know I need this.

So our plans for tomorrow is to have a simple breakfast and to spend most of the day in sensory room then we'll have lunch and we might go downstairs into the game room and sit by the fire and watch some Disney movies. We both definitely need a day too relax decompress and not worry about anything. I'm so thankful that I have a partner that looks out for us and points these things out to us. Our focus for the last 3 weeks has been to get star better. I know we have let our mental health issues slide a little bit. And with her coming home on Friday having a mental health day tomorrow will be the perfect thing for us both.

And you can bet that we will be making s'mores tomorrow.

This partner of mine, I don't deserve him.

Hello Nearly the whole world has Obsessive Compulsive Disorders . My only advise with that is never control someone with that . Leave them come to there own conclusion .
Most of the OCD end up at some stage it goes flat . The highs The highs and The highs and then eventually goes flat . You end up coming back to yourself .
What usually surfaces underneath that my friend is a lot of depression or self pity .
Don't beat yourself up for that at all cause nearly everyone I met has or had that .
I had 2 brand new cars in the one year going back awhile and a week while I had them was a high and the following week was why did I get them . See after awhile everything goes flat

@riseofthemachine my daughter and I both have OCD and we are getting treatment to help us learn ways to cope and deal with it. It seems a little easier for her because she is younger and I'm old and set in my ways 😂

@Cigarguy You answered it yourself my friend " Your set in your way *
When your set in your ways around anything in life you end up becoming very unhappy cause your blocking yourself out of fear to leave life happen .
I can relate to you that . That's why I'm answering .
Being set in your ways it a lot to do with not being good enough and that's why you set your ways my friend

@Cigarguy 😅😅😅😅. I hope you achieve what you want to achieve my friend in difficulties but in my mind there not much difficulties cause everyone has them my friend . The worst thing you can do with OCD is to beat yourself up

@riseofthemachine why are you coming on my post and trying to downplay my daughter and my struggles with OCD. I'm never seen you on here before either

@riseofthemachine 1. Mild OCD
Obsessions and compulsions are present but manageable
Little interference with work, school, or relationships
Person can often resist compulsions
2. Moderate OCD
Symptoms are frequent and distressing
Daily routines are disrupted
Avoidance behaviors increase
Anxiety rises if rituals aren’t completed
3. Severe / Extreme OCD (the “worst” level)
This is what people usually mean when they ask about the worst level.
It can involve:
Obsessions and compulsions taking several hours a day
Inability to work, attend school, or function independently
Extreme distress, panic, or depression
Strong avoidance (not leaving home, not touching objects, not eating certain foods)
Compulsions that feel completely uncontrollable
Sometimes poor insight (the person may feel the fears are absolutely real)
Higher risk of depression and suicidal thoughts (important but not inevitable)
