Worrying about suicidal people online - ways to stop fearing the worst?

I have a thing when people online (real, or fake) say they are feeling suicidal or have attempted. What tips are there for us when someone online says this, to get closure or know if they are okay? Basically I want to know ways to find out an online stranger hasn’t died? Any tips or ideas?

@Wiseacre thank you. I hope it was a lie.

It happened on MySpace in 2009. I believe the person was lying as they were using photos of other people and I was messaged by multiple accounts in a pile-on attack. All the accounts had fake images of site-models.

In light of this, do you think I was lied to and no one attempted, or died? The fear has always stuck in my head that it was real - even if the people saying it had fake identities 😢

I wouldn’t give it another thought.@BurningBright

@Wiseacre it’s hard to do. If a fake account told you something horrible happened, and then you found out it was a fake account… would you think they were lying about everything?? 😔

@BurningBright possibly..just let it go!

@Wiseacre can’t. It has no closure… did the fake account lie? I keep wondering if someone really died and I was the trigger. It happened in 2009 on MySpace, but it has stuck with me… no offence intended when I say that letting it go, would require a bit more than “let it go”

Understood, but if u can’t do anything about it, u must let it go or drive urself nuts. @BurningBright

@Wiseacre yeah… I kinda wondered your perspective though. If you theoretically got blamed for something bad… and later you find proof that person has a fake name/photo… would that automatically make you think that they were a liar? 🤥

@Wiseacre I kinda get why. It just also seems hard to feel certain…

@BurningBright nothing is 100%certain..u’v no responsibility here, so let it go.
