People are creatures of habit. Real change is only possible when they learn to break the cycle. For some, it's taking care of their health, others prefer therapy, while others still find their peace in meditation, self-expression, connections, or nature.

I know it sounds trite when just looking at these words on a screen, but when put into practice these new habits do tend to make a difference in people's lives. It's why they keep getting recommended.

Different things are going to work for different people and different situations. It can be quite frustrating when you haven't found what works for you, but it really all boils down to hijacking your own brain and taking it back from these doldrums.

Dopamine is the neurochemical responsible for motivation and satisfaction, but it isn't going to randomly flood your brain and make you feel like living. It takes some effort to get the ball rolling, but once you do it really does start to become a positive feedback loop

@awildsheepschase Focusing on anything outside of one's control is bound to generate feelings of madness and hopelessness. The trick is to focus on the things that one can control, and there is true power in realizing all that we're capable of.

To quote Marcus Aurelius: "You have power over your mind, not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength"
@TinyViolins Not everyone is Marcus Aurelius and we live our own lives affected by people and culture we live with. Are you ready to tell people who are poor, disabled, or traumatized by hurt it's only for them to find strength? It takes a community to raise a child.

@awildsheepschase It's not my place to tell others how to live their lives. If one is in a position to help the poor and traumatized and wishes to do so, then they may. That's something within their control. If one isn't in a position to do anything helpful, then what use is there in worrying about it?

There's a lot of communities and a lot of children out there in this world. Are you implying that I am to be responsible for every single one?

It means your life is on a public shuttle bus .. get off and drive your own life.

No point sitting in it and complaining that you are back where you started.
