How do you connect to the world when you're introverted,shy, and awkward?

It’s a challenge. I’m not shy, and something of a sociable introvert, which means I stick to myself, yet I’m pleasant and sociable when interacting with others, which is not often. The world has changed immensely, and I’ve changed as I’ve aged, so its a bit like oil and water for me.
