Stop listening to yourself. Meditate. Exercise. Eat healthy.

First accept that you’ve lost the first round, then focus on small achievements even if it’s just cleaning your room or going for a walk. While you’re doing that, think of the next small thing you’ll fix. It’s important to not leave long gaps where you do nothing. That’s where bad thoughts take over. When tired, do something you enjoy. Repeat.

According to my old therapist, just think happy thoughts or maybe go for a walk

@BigImo I'm not sure if my way of putting that was slightly lost in translation. But anyone claiming to have had low mood which was cured by "thinking positive / happy thoughts or going for a walk," then I'm terribly sorry but that wasn't really depression. That's the point I was trying to make. Genuine depression is never cured by those things, because it's not that simple, and anyone recommending these remedies quite frankly has no place in claiming to be a therapist on the matter.
Depression proper is a seriously debilitating condition for which there is no straightforward cure... And it's often lifelong.

The words are easy to say... Participate in life... But hard to do.
Start simple, baby steps... And build on it... Simple walks are good exercise, keeping both you and your surroundings clean and neat really do work, taking with others. Helping others.... Good luck on your journey
