It depends on how you define loser. There are a lot of ways to lose. It's such an umbrella term that you can apply it to all different classes of social outcasts. Maybe it's a nerd in a library, a virgin on a computer, a geek at a comic convention, an anxious person at home, a boring person in front of their TV, a homeless person at a park, junkies in alleyways, a low-wage worker at their second job, a sad sack at a bar, a head-case wandering the streets, a hopeless romantic at the book store.
Society tends to have such a narrow definition for success that you can categorize a lot of people as losers. It really depends on what your definition of success is, and whether or not other people are trying to achieve that
