I had an anxiety attack at work and I'm embarrassed to go back

I bet quite a few people at your work have suffered from anxiety at some time too. They're probably worried about you. Try and talk to someone who works with you about it. Is there something in particular that triggered it?

@Fluffybull nothing in particular did. Just a culmination of little things. The thing is I work solo away from my depot so I'm worried if I tell them I'm struggling they'll move me

I used to work at a homeless shelter, and one of our residential staff suffered from anxiety. Her other co-workers freaked out, because she was supposed to be working but went to hide in the basement instead. She told everyone that I was the ONLY person she wanted to see. I think it was because I had talked to her about my own experience with anxiety.

She knew I would not freak out and make her worse. Instead we just calmly got her upstairs, and got her in her car to go home.

Please don't be embarrassed... instead, make an appointment with HR and discuss the issue with them. Why lose your job? HR is supposed to accommodate people's various mental health conditions and/or disabilities.

Do exactly as HR tells you, and try your best to stay calm. No coffee, tea, sugar, chocolate or other stimulants before work. If you are taking a decongestant, stop.
