I Battle Depression

Lately I've started to feel more depressed than usual and I've started to wonder if I'll be taking steps back from how far I've come to overcome it. It's a harsh reminder that if I let the worst side of me beat out the better side of me, then I'll become totally lost like I once was.

It comes down to how much I care about myself and how much work and effort I'm willing to put in so I can persevere and meet new plateaus, hopefully one day finding the peak where depression doesn't register any more.

I think one of the hardest things is finding the will to improve when you're dealing with thoughts that are encouraging you to give up. Therein lies the battle.

On a positive note, I can say as I write this, that I enjoy the challenge. If we don't have obstacles to overcome that help mould us into something more advanced than what we once were, then how can it be satisfying to live our lives?

As I'm to die like everyone else, I'd prefer to die having achieved something worthwhile.

You talk about it being a "challenge to over come to be more advanced then you were". Yeah it is a challenge but don't forget it also helps you connect with people. No one knows the pain of another, until the experienced that pain for them self.

I agree. It's the experiences that leave an impression on us that help us connect with others. I find it more of a challenge to connect with other people though, so I sometimes have to focus on bettering myself in order to try and connect with others easier.

LOL Look at that I know exactly what you mean because I too have that issue xD All sarcasm aside. Please make sure that you aren't always changing yourself and have a goal every time you do. If you always think "I could be better at this! Or better at that!" Then you are never going to be happy because you will never know when enough is enough. You know? If you have that goal there then you know when you are done as well as know that you achieved something. :)

I would do well to take on your advice, yet it seems to be in my nature to want to always evolve. I think I probably need to learn to set those goals and be satisfied, which should hopefully come with one activity I'm planning. It's all tying in to the greater challenge. Do I learn to be something that doesn't come naturally to me for the sake of satisfaction, or do I follow my nature to try and constantly change valuing that experience over being satisfied?

Satisfaction is within us man...looking for it outside is root of most problems.

Thoughts or intentions?
SolitaryFriend · 41-45, M
I'd say thoughts lead to intentions.

Hmmm...

Good for you. I would say don't ever give up. But then I'd be a hypocrite.

Thanks. It's all part of the challenge.
