I Have Battled Depression Since Childhood

The first time my teachers noticed a depressive attitude from me was when I was 6. They called my mother and recommended that I see a therapist and start seeing the school guidance counselor.

I had regular meetings with the school counselor, and mostly I remember just drawing and coloring and playing games. She would ask me all kinds of questions about my home life and my past sexual abuse. They informed my mother that I was suffering from depression, but my mother didn't take it any further, because she is the type who only half-believes in mental illness. So that was that.

I can relate, except the part that nobody in my family knows that I have mental illness, and my friends who knows, don't acknowledge how severe it is!
