I Battle Depression

How to fight depression without medicines.

Please try not to over think as it is not good for your mental health and have faith in yourself. Take healthy fresh and green leafy vegetables, and a lot of bananas.

Take care of your hygiene. Don't miss brushing your teeth. Having daily showers is not only good for your hygiene but also makes you feel better. Same is for combing hairs. Please don't ignore your hygiene, it helps you feel better in the right direction.

Make your bed everyday after you wakeup. It increases your will power to fight depression.

Walk barefoot on green grass, preferably in the morning. If you have a beach near you, walk on the side, where the water keeps striking your feet. Otherwise take a bucket/tub of warm water, add some salt to it and dip your feet for 15 minutes.

Meet your friends more often in reality(not just virtual/internet/phone), share and discuss your problems with them.

Laugh and smile as often as possible, even if you don't feel happy, as laughing triggers +veness in you. Try to feel +ve and happiness in you, you may try smiling with your day dreams. 🙂

Daily jog is a must. Go daily for jog, even if you can just manage to walk for few minutes. Focus on slowly improving your performance.

Avoid excess caffeine, alcohol and sweets.

Try Yoga, there are different asana that will make you feel good. And prayanama can do wonders. I personally found Bhastrika and Kapalbhati prayanama particularly helpful to make you feel more positive. You will be able to see results after a week or two.

#Physical exhaustion gained by meaningful, productive work such as gardening, bricklaying, carpentry, clearing up a mess of litter etc. can leave little room for the depression cycle.

*Taking Tulsi (Holy Basil) as drops(with 1/2 cup water) or fresh leaves(around 5) can also help you reduce stress and help with depression. Avoid consuming milk & milk products before of after 1 hour of consuming Tulsi. Consuming Tulsi leaves regularly on an empty stomach can help bring about a lot of change in your daily health and energy levels.

*If you don't typically get much sunlight, it may be helpful to try and find ways to increase your sun exposure. Vitamin D, serotonin, and melatonin in sunlight are known for their beneficial effect on mental health. You can try to take sunlight in your balcony or at lawn. Always prefer to take sunlight facing your back towards sun, it helps you absorb more benefits from sunlight and you will be able to stay more in sunlight.

Try selfless work/volunteering/social service/helping others, if you can find opportunity to. It gives you a sense of happiness and satisfaction in life, which is a positive thing, and brings up your mood.

Focus on the goodness of life that is happening to you, rather than focusing on pain. Live in present, rather than thinking about past or future.

Travelling to new places help you have a fresh feeling.

Meanwhile also work to permanently remove the causes of depression from your life.

Take care of yourself.

Hugs & Best Wishes. 🙂

Sometimes depression comes into your life very silently. You hardly realize that it has been with you for quite a long time.

@SW-User Yes, you are right. But whenever you realizes that, you should work for the cure.

@ABCDEF7 Absolutely.
But trust me, it is tough battling depression. Everything seems to be so pathetically drastic and bleak.

@SW-User You are right. I never said it's going to be easy. But as you said, depression enters you silently. It also leaves you slowly and silently. That is what I have experienced. You have to keep moving in right direction.

Yoga, particularly kapalbhati and bhastrika prayanama has proven very helpful in my case.

@ABCDEF7 Yeah true, it goes out of your life unpredictably.

@SW-User Yeah, just keep moving in the right direction and one day you'll realise that you no longer have depression.
