This is something we're struggling with. Our youngest boy is ADHD and the school has hinted that it could help him. He's hyper yes, but he can focus in school. He got all good grades. He has a IEP plan. He rarely gets in trouble or causes problems. I just hate to put him on medication if we can manage it with it

@Nightwings yes but not sure what that was to do with missing or forgeting appointments

@Cigarguy101 if he can manage well enough with it that's great. I'd be careful with meds with him because I, as a kid was on meds

@caPnAhab that is what I'm afraid of. I don't want that at all. Trust me I'm not against meds if they help. Lord knows I need them. I don't want him to lose his spark

My brother used to take medication for his ADHD as a kid. I'm not him, so I can't say if it helped or not, but it did make him seem calmer & not so loud when he'd speak. He was taken off of them around his early teens because, according to our doctor, he somehow developed female breast tissue.

@whiskeymoon didn't expect to hear about this side effect. Weird..

@caPnAhab Tell me about it. I've never heard of anything like that happening

I tried multiple stimulants including Concerta, Adderall, Vyvanse, etc. and none of them worked for me. Too many side effects. I found that L-theanine supplements helped somewhat, especially with some caffeine.

I use to take ADHD medication. I don't remember it really helping at all
