What are you looking to learn and/or deal with about it?

@Strontium it can be difficult., what are your default ways of coping with things?
Strontium · 26-30
@lovingdead eating, changing my dress all the time. Wanting to look different all the time. Over spending. Lack of self care. Self abandonment.

@Strontium any constants in your life you enjoy?

I had an ex who was borderline. One day she was just done with me. I watched her change over the time we were together. She had on-and-off bulimia and anorexia. I saw them come and go. She seemed to have a core that was her that persisted, though I doubt she felt that way. She was always kind. Never not kind. Didn't matter how frustrated she was, she was always kind.

My x had bpd. We dated for like 10 years. We still talk sort of.

I was some years ago given a diagnosis of borderline pattern personality disorder.
At that time I was in a treatment centre for alcohol misuse. The doctor there thought my alcohol abuse, self harm and suicidal feelings were driven by that.
I'm personally not so sure. Since staying sober my mood doesn't swing like it used to and I've worked hard on my self worth.
Sorry to hear that you are struggling.

@Strontium for me did alcohol cause the personality problems or was alcohol a symptom of the personality problems?
I don't know. For me sobriety is my number one aim now. I still have fears of rejection, I don't have the suicidal thoughts anymore, the anger is less and better controlled on the whole. But I still have insecurities about who I am at times (my imposter syndrome is a constant noise) and the paranoia can raise it's head as a result of that.

oh i thought it meant bipolar ..

Borderline PD? I've been diagnosed with that. I'm not sure what identity fragmentation is, but I'm interested in learning about it in case it could be insightful for myself. And maybe we could relate if it's something we both struggle with.

@OldBrit And then?
OldBrit · 61-69, M
@SinlessOnslaught I went through rehab to stop drinking when all this was identified. I then had different stages of therapy and I've worked a sobriety programme which requires me to be honest first and foremost with myself.

@OldBrit I hope it has helped.
