Even when he’s in a better headspace, I still see the pain in his eyes

Even when his heart is happy, if I listen to it, I’ll still hear his irregular heartbeat. It’s so easy to forget Desmond’s struggles when he does so well, but I’ve been getting better about remembering that his pain never goes away and has only subsided for now. We’ll both ride high off how well he’s doing while it lasts, anyway. I’ll just do my best to try catching him when he comes back down.
