My self esteem sucks

I know it's crazy, I am a truck driver have been with the same company for almost 30 years, I have over 2.6 million miles of safe driving. I know I am good at what I do. Recently my company decided to install a bunch of new "safety" equipment. Cameras that watch both what is ahead of me on the road and also watch me, various instruments that are constantly scanning my surroundings and even reading speed limit signs (often incorrectly) and any time I do something the computer in the truck thinks is unsafe a voice comes out and tells me i'm "distracted" or "speeding" or "check safety belt". Now I am constantly doubting my own skills. Today I got called into the bosses office to view a video in which I was doing the incredibly unsafe act of taking my medication while driving. I have 7 years until I can retire and I am honestly not sure I will last that long, either the computer will get me fired (despite my safety record) or I will flip out and drive the truck into a bridge while listening to it tell me to "check safety belt".

Ahhh… is this why the frustration is building in you?
@Primnproper It definitely doesn't help

@istillhaveanameitsrick I can tell, the company sound as though they are putting you under immense pressure.
@Primnproper me and all of the other drivers here. What they don't realize is that they are actually creating more unsafe drivers. The added stress tends to create more road rage leading to risky driving behaviors.

@istillhaveanameitsrick I can see why it would create more stress. I couldn’t live a day without music to keep me centred. I’m sorry you have to deal with that.
@Primnproper Yeah I actually got reprimanded once for enjoying my music too much. I was jammin' the camera decided I had been distracted and sent a video to my boss who then called me in to discuss my inattention.

@istillhaveanameitsrick for goodness sake they must realise that hours driving alone can have a detrimental affect on your mental health. They’d never get away with sh!t like that over here. They do put more and more pressures on anyone driving for a living now though.
@Primnproper a little over 6 more years and I won't have to worry about it anymore.

@istillhaveanameitsrick well let’s hope you hold it together till then. Hopefully you at least get to relax at home with family at the end of the day..
@Primnproper sometimes I get a few minutes to relax. My wife is someone who likes to be doing something all the time so we go to a lot of parties (usually at her daughters house) and we go to a lot of hockey games but I find that relaxing.
