Not sure any words of mine could bring any form of comfort in such a troubled time. But since you've been distraught enough to share this, it at least deserves recognition.

Sometimes people go through things and even if you're close you still don't get a sense of the desperation within them, nor how it affects their thinking.

I hope you and your family are getting support both from family and the medical profession.
And it should go without saying that if you want to vent thoughts and feelings this place is somewhere you should feel comfortable to do that.
