I'm confused

I told my parents that I'm gonna pursue psychology, and they said that it's not promising (meaning that it isnt popular and doesn't have many job opportunities, saying it's hard to find job in that course.) I really wanna hear your thoughts about it. Maybe you could also give advice. Thank you so much!

There are good jobs today that were trash jobs thirty years ago and amazing jobs thirty years ago that barely exist today.

Times change and so do in demand jobs.

Sometimes I wonder how my life may have been different had I gone to psychology instead of programming. It's not that I hate programming more than other work, but it gets stressful.
