Why do people follow crazy leaders?

And by crazy I mean like Charles Manson?
Like how the hell did that actually happen?

Why are some people prone to follow someone like that while others aren't?

I seen the interview where he was making strange faces and he didn't seem that charasmatic tbh 😂

But either way, I'm still wondering why some followed him while others didn't

Like, what was the difference between the people who followed him vs the people who didn't? 😅
