Cymbalta and POTS

This is not what I wanted to here today. My doctor said the Cymbalta is not a recommended drug to be on with POTS

Im kinda freaking out. I've been on it for about a year now and my depression has been very stable. I mean I have my bad day but nothing like before I went on this medication. It was really helped me so much. I am not sure if I should change to something else. Plus med changes suck. I don't want to go through all that. I'm going to talk to my therapist tomorrow at my appointment and have to see what he thinks.

Ugh this is not the news I was wanting to get.

My daughter has POTS as well as fibromyalgia, and cymblats is what is prescribed for fibro. As she puts it, "It’s going to be hard either way, so unless I can figure out a way to remedy both situations at one time I’m just choosing my level of hard". So you do what is right for you, if the depression is harder to manage without it, maybe it's better to stick with it.
@Cigarguy101 I loved being on it too for tis reason! But I'm really sensitive to medications and I never got past the needing to sleep 24/7

@nonsensiclesnail it actually doesn't make me sleepy, in fact I struggle with major insomnia
@Cigarguy101 I’m so glad it doesn’t! Only wanting to sleep is miserable. But! So is insomnia.

Well, you did go to the doctor to have him re-evaluate your meds, so you had to have had some idea that there might be changes. I am super sorry that the doctor found ONE of the drugs you find essential to be contra-indicated.

Stay strong through the changes...pay attention to your doctors, and try VERY hard to be brave through all of this!

@4meAndyou yes that is true I just wasn't thinking it would be the medicine that has helped my depression more than any other I've taken. I am not sure I want to risk going off of it.

I hope you find a way to figure it out. I've also found Cymbalta to be magically wonderful and will probably take it till my dying day. And on my dying day too.

@Fallflower I'm kinda feeling the same way you. I don't know if I can risk going off of it.

One of the side effects of Cymbalta is POTS, especially in the first few weeks. It can also surface later. It's possible it's the cause of your POTS

@faery my doctor did bring that up. I've been on it over a year now..

@Cigarguy101 I think your doctor is smart. I wish you the best in getting this sorted out
