i was diagnosed with this a long time ago. it’s a rough road, but it can be manageable. you won’t ever be “cured”, as you can’t cure this disorder, but eventually you can possibly be able to get to a point where it won’t affect you the same way it used to

@SinlessOnslaught i’m sorry to hear that, it’s awful. it took me years to find the right balance of meds, and a lot of those ended up just making me so much worse than before too. it’s tragic how difficult it can be to find help for mental health. it should be more prioritized than it is.

@moonyean In a perfect world, yes. Unfortunately, the world is far from perfect.

Years ago, I met 2 or 3 people on the Experience Project site who I think had the same diagnosis. They did have success in their professional lives. One became a successful psychotherapist and the other is now a rising executive.
I think as it relates to how you feel about yourself, It is important to remember that borderline personality disorder does not define you. It is a diagnosis based on a number of symptoms you have experienced, so that you can benefit from the appropriate treatment program to improve your quality of life.
In this sense, it is really no different than a diagnosis of diabetes, or some other physical illness.
You still have the choice to decide the kind of person you want to be in your own life. But awareness of the diagnosis may help empower you to live your best life.

Nothing to be embarrassed or ashamed of ❤

Take a step back for a moment. How did you feel before the Dr told you you had BPD?
There is no need to be embarrassed. If you fit some of the criteria or have symptoms of BPD, then that's a start.
It is treatable.
