Does anyone not find it jarring how normalized porn is?

Like, if you actually spell it out it's really, really, abnormal behavior. You sit at a computer, watching people take off their clothes and have sex. You're in no way participating, and they don't even know you exist. Let's also couple it with the fact that a lot of the "performers" you're watching are there against their will (not physically forced, but probably tricked/trafficked/left with no other choice) and would probably not be there if they had a choice. Also note the fact that these "performers" also need to be on drugs to keep the show going.

Its vile. And some so called science magazines try to tell you porn is healthy even though it literally rewires your brain like so many other addictions do.

There are varieties of porn, and to lump them all together is like saying, "I hated the Indy 500 so I hate all cars."

Voyeurism is recognized as normal and merely another element of the intimate experience; it's healthy and well within the "healthy parameters' of sexual expression. Stimulation is the result of watching the act of sex; that's normal, that's okay. Because remember - sex isn't bad, dirty, or shameful. It's the exploration of the physical self through intimacy and adventure.

Some porn is created using trafficked people and some actors are plied with drugs, but this is the exception now. Most porn is produced by established and regulated companies and what isn't is amateur porn made by those who watch porn.

Porn absolutely does not "rewire" the brain like other addictions, nor is it considered an addiction. That is an official position from the APA and AMA both.

And consider for a moment the girls and women who strip, dance and perform sexual favors. In society, this is accepted, condoned and encouraged. "She's putting herself through school" is my favorite toss-off excuse for objectification. No one objects to the chronic overuse of Viagra in the porn industry (or anywhere else).

Porn doesn't have to be bad because sex doesn't have to be bad.
human trafficking is a real issue. sex workers deserve rights and protection, like any other occupation. imo sex work is something that's always going to be around, so why deny them the safety? some people do enjoy it, others do it only for the money. overall i think it's healthier to have partnered sex as porn can be a real addiction for some people, but i also see no shame in celebrating sexuality. it all depends on if it's done in a consenting, respectable environment where human rights are part of the package.

You are right, it's anything but healthy and is often where women especially are victimized.

@canusernamebemyusername even the so called "independent" porn is still the same- most small creators wouldn't do porn if they had other options.

@somedude15 Huh, it's never seemed to matter when talking about strippers.

And let's not forget that fact that you are getting aroused while stimulating a same sex sex organ (your own) yeah. Let that sink in. Deep
