An I getting arthritis?

So I work with my hands Mon to Fri, Saturdays if we have overtime. Anyway, there was an older woman who worked in my department who just randomly came up to me one day and goes, look at my fingers!!! And she held her hands out at her fingers were twisted all different directions and then she's explaining to me how doing certain jobs with the twisting are going to mess my fingers up yada yada yada.

So a couple weeks ago I go to bend my pinky on my right hand at the last knuckle and it hurts to bend it and it looks like it's starting to like crook over to the left.

I wanted to get some opinions on it so I took a photo of my right hand Pinky and my left hand pinky just so you could see the difference.

What I did is, I held my finger up against the table just so you could see the difference between how straight my left pinky is compared to my right Pinky just on the end. Is it arthritis or could it be something different because I don't really use that finger to do jobs mostly it's my thumbs, index, and middle finger, ring finger.

If you have pain, swelling, numbness or tingling or you start losing movement then it's a problem to get the doc to look at but otherwise probably just normal and part of getting older. I wouldn't worry if it's not affecting you. ❤

@PatientlyWaiting25 okay thank you. Yes it doesn't bother me, and if I bend my finger at the 3rd knuckle it's painful probably on a pain level scale of 2 or 3. It hurts when you bend but then it goes away.

Some sensible and calming comments here, but I think a medical diagnosis is always best given my a qualified medic.

@FreddieUK and no you're right, I'd hoped maybe if someone else had the same problem at one time they could tell me more

Misalignment of the joints IS one possible symptom of post-traumatic arthritis, which can occur after the joint is injured.

@4meAndyou hmmm, I'm not sure if I injured that part of my finger. I don't think I did. But thank you for your information, I'll look it up and do some research cause I'm like, this is no good

@twiigss Repetitive motion CAN possibly cause injury.

probably not.. but who knows .. can you get it in just one finger? unlikely but im not expert in the field.. you may just be paranoid/self conscious because of her
twiigss · M
@YoMomma she had to be in her late 60s. But with the type of work we were doing back then, she said her fingers got like that from doing the tight twisting over the years and slowly developed arthritis in both hands.

She's long since retired now. April I'll be there for 9 years though 😁

@twiigss ok ☺ may i ask what you guys were making?

Do you have any pain or difficulty using the finger? If not I wouldn't think that you have a problem.
twiigss · M
@Musicman I don't, but one day I bent it and went, OW! What the hell?! Then I noticed it was crooked
