For strange reasons, its also tastier when cut that way.

Perceptually, it looks like it's more sandwich, but there are some non-complicated reasons behind it. The diagonal cut is longer than the straight cut; it's easier to eat (straight cut means more crumbs and tomatoes on your clothes; maybe even tastier: you experience more of what's inside the sandwich, and less bread.

There's more than one way to slice this issue.
