Most people don't realize how important it is to their lives. Once you "break the code," and become directed into the aspects that affect your life, you understand its importance and take it more seriously.
@samueltyler2 BS they sucked at it in school

if they didnt suck SOMEONE would have interested them

no comments as usual, maybe cause Im right

btw I sucked at it and hated it too, my teachers loved to act like they were better people than my type

but I passed all my Regents exams and get into college and never had to take math again

@samueltyler2 Many people do not see that math and music are essentially the same thing. Math is the music of the universe. 🪐✨💫

@helenS absolutely, every time I play a new piece, I am reminded of how important counting is to the music.

That is the key. My grandson is somewhat of a math prodigy, and he sees/hears patterns and relationships beyond most people. And yes, he plays the piano and has sung in choirs. His take is that math by and large is taught wrong, and that is why it turns off so many people. His 6th grade teacher turned over teaching math lessons to him, saying "he explains it in ways the kids understand better than I can." He is in college now and resisting all efforts to push him into pure theoretical math or teaching math. He prefers to apply math to solving everyday problems.

@dancingtongue It is the same with science. I learned more from TV's Mr. Wizard than my first science teachers, it wasn't until high school and college that i was allowed to question and delve into the sciences, that it became fun.

@samueltyler2 Ditto with history. History is full of so much drama, action, and characters -- and schools want to reduce it to memorizing dates and events.

@dancingtongue wasn't it Churchill who said those who don't study history are doomed to repeat it.
@samueltyler2 I’m a musician and my father, who has an MS in advanced math, never understood why math never came easier to me. I don’t know either. But it wasnt because I wasn’t interested in it.

@samueltyler2 No, it was philosopher Jorge Santayana.
