Good days and bad days

I am missing my husband something fierce today! it's officially been the longest he's been away in the last 11 years of our marriage and there is still a little over a month to go before he comes home. what makes it worse is I know shortly he's going to be gone for a year. When we got married I didn't think I was going to have to deal with this because he was getting out of the military and then he decided he wanted to go back in a couple years ago.... I'm going to stick by him, love him support him and everything but man the distance is hard some days and today is that day!

As a Veteran who served for 35+ years and was often deployed for extended periods in combat zones, I well know the impact us being away can have on our relationships. Hang in there and know that not much is more important to the deployed service member than knowing that someone back home who loves us is waiting for us to come home, it's a big part of what keeps us doing what we do. On or near most of the bases there are resources and support groups that can help with the loneliness as many are in the same situation as you, take advantage of them, you are never alone and a shoulder to cry on can always be helpful! 🎗

That's pretty awesome of you. It will be good for his mental health to know you are strong at home and supporting him. I was in the military away from home for a number of tours. It was hard for both sides of the relationship.
