I've had three failed marriages, and ONE of them lasted for 25 years before it failed...so I had a lot of time to really THINK about love and what it is...and all of its many parts and stages.
Love between two adults BEGINS as attraction. You THINK about the other person ALL the time. The SIGHT of that person is wonderful to you. His scent, being NEAR him...are ALL part of a new and delightful NEED that begins to grow and grow. At this point in love...it is about pheromones, and chemistry.
If a woman KISSES her male lover, his testosterone enters her body through HIS saliva! Gross, right? 🤣🤣🤣 But THAT is what excites her.
If a woman has physical intercourse with a man, SHE bonds with him. Males do not bond to their females in the same way. It's a weird thing that ONLY happens to the woman.
ALL of the above is what I consider the infancy of love.
IF you stay with the same person, over the years, you learn to take care of each other in practical ways...and that is also a form of bonding. You learn how to compromise, how to forgive, how to understand your partner's past and how it shaped them.
That is what I call the adulthood of love.
At some point, the physical part of love, which drove the two together, fades...and can even become non-existent. Partners can get tired of one another...and that is when the roller coaster part of a love relationship goes into effect. There are ups and downs.
As the woman in a relationship, I found that I had to think about COOKING for my partner as a form of love...and taking care of him when he was sick.
Perhaps that is the old age of love.
And I DO think that the old age of love COULD last...IF your partner does not become cruel or abusive.

Love is an action not a feeling. It does no envy anger or boast. Its all forgiving and endures all. Its an action of devotion and sacrifice for another.

Love is the feeling you have once you’ve stopped thinking. You can’t intellectualize this sentiment. The more you define it, the further away from it you are.
It's just something you feel.
