Sent him a passionate message about how ive loved him for 3 years, how i loved all the time we shared & memories we made. he got upset i said 'loved'

You deserve someone to give you commitment and attention and a relationship

It feels like he's selectively read into word choice in parts of the message and ignored the whole of it. That's the behavior of someone who wants to find a reason to feel hurt or upset.

You aren't in the wrong. I'm not sure what is up with them, but they are acting in a rather toxic manner over it.

Take some time for yourself? You come off as a bit unhinged and he comes off as manipulative. This is just my assesment, I could be wrong. But his intent looks like an attempt to find a reason to get rid of you without being overt about it by pointing out something so small and clearly changing tje meaning to be "Loved = In the past" to "Loved = You don't love me anymore, feel guilty for speaking that way and go away."

It's so obvious to me it comes off as nit picking an emotional loving message tp just get rid of you and not answer it. Yuck. It fully looks intentional and you can either "Admit you were wrong for speaking ever so slighltly out of turn, which you didn't." or just give him time like weeks or months and build up your own life assets.

I have no words, as this is all part of your journey and a lesson you’ll probably learn later in life.

You said everything right, if he had feelings for you, he would have responded to your message in a very very positive way

Tell him the past between you matters because... time makes lovers feel like they've got something real 🎶
