What is your definition of true love?

When you care about another more than you care about yourself.

Sharing food or snacks that you really really enjoy and wish you could eat alone.

Watching your partner sleep and thinking, “I could smother him with a pillow”, but getting up and making him pancakes instead.

IDK. The older I grow the less I know. It's not the overly romanticized lustful thing of movies.

But, this comes really close.

The Detective Bromme, discovering it was the woman (Loraine) he loved who was the male serial killer. She has cancer. Is dying. This is their exchange after he finds out..

Him - “I thought we could have, you know, with the time you have left…
Loraine – "I know I would have liked that."
Bromme – In tears, "Why did you have to do this!"
Loraine – In tears, "I’m so sorry. I’m dying Bromme. I don’t wanna spend my last days in prison. I love you, I love you so much. I’m so sorry."
Tight tight hug between them.
Bromme – In tears, "I’ll be with you, ok? I’ll stay close."

He reads her her rights…

Love and compassion even in the face of the deepest darkest within another human. He stands by her in her last days.

True love is not perfect in fact most times true love is defined by the trial and tribulations which test it. It is by endurance, unconditional acceptance, loyalty and the care for each other's happiness before oneself that is the mark of enduring and the truest of love that define it

It takes different forms everyday and molds itself to the needs of both individuals constantly

The conviction that at last you've bonded with someone who gives meaning and purpose to your life, and who feels the same way about you. Of course if you're lucky enough to have gained that and then inexplicably lose it - "bittersweet" doesn't begin to cover it.

Being able to share everything , being able to forgive and forget, being unconditional in your acceptance of them, being able to let go without needing to control or manipulate and to put yourself second and not demand.

I don't believe in it anymore. I truly love my child, but romance eludes me and I just don't care anymore.

Love isn't how you feel about the other person... it's how you feel about yourself when you're with the other person.
