You're chance of success will be much higher. If the two coincide you probably are an astronaut or a baseball player.

I did that. I worked as an engineer/manager in the space industry, but pursued my passion as a volunteer or part-time worker.

This only matters how you measure success. Passion won’t equal material success.

Exactly. That's why I'm going to keep one or two rental properties for my primary means of existence, and do the virtual band thing as a hobby. If it takes off, it takes off.
