You have been fed a lie: don't pursue your passion professionally, pursue what you are good at.
You're chance of success will be much higher. If the two coincide you probably are an astronaut or a baseball player.

I did that. I worked as an engineer/manager in the space industry, but pursued my passion as a volunteer or part-time worker.
