Do you believe that lasting, mutual love is posible?

Mm the other day in a conversation this girl asked me if I believed that she could find a real, lasting love.

The kind that's very lasting, like those couples that are together and committed with real love till they die, like lovers and friends, that get on well...
And it moved my heart, I just told her I hope she does, but it's absolutely rare to find that kind of connection, that's why it's better to just live one day at a time loving oneself.. Open to the idea but also realizing it's rare. To find.
Because time and people kill relationships.

It seems to be becoming rarer and rarer. People have less tolerance or patience or willingness to work through differences. It is much easier to walk away than face and work on things together.

@SW-User I'm not getting good vibes, tbh. I don't know if I should be logging on and at the same time I need a little distraction and keep coming on. Though the distraction is becoming destructive so I might not be around too long. 👀
SW-User
@SW-User like me, exactly yes. Can get vicious here.
Hope you have a nice weekend anyway
SW-User
@SW-User You too. Have fun. 🤗

Possible but few and far between, people change over time and that’s normal. Carpe Diem, for tomorrow might not come ☀️
SW-User
@Cuda6868 yep yep, the fantasy romance is rare haha
SW-User
I believe it's possible, I also believe it's very rare. Both people need to be equally committed and equally in love.

Thankfully my late wife & I shared such a bond of love, friendship, companionship, devotion, passion & lust for just over 30 years before we lost her in 2016. Even though it has been over 6 years now my heart still cries out for her, my soul searches for her and my love for her goes on.
lipstickguy · 61-69, M
@cd4259 I'm sorry for your loss but you are so blessed to have had her for that short time until you are reunited for eternity. i envy what you had
cd4259 · 61-69, M
@lipstickguy thank you so much for your lovely comment. Yes we were blessed and I am certain that we will meet again 💕 true love never dies.
TheLordOfHell · 41-45
I do. My parents are the perfect example, and if I had paid more attention to them, my last marriage would have lasted. They are best friends as well as lovers, and they are always talking. Married for nearly 50 years and still going
TheLordOfHell · 41-45
@SW-User Thank you. I have no doubt that it will. I hope you find that very same type of love.
SW-User
@TheLordOfHell 😅maybe someday we should have a nice conversation about those things and my thoughts someday hehe not today
TheLordOfHell · 41-45
@SW-User Deal! Today is a day for relaxing anyway.
GJOFJ3 · 61-69, M
It is totally possible ❤️
It's possible, but very rare. And by waiting for that, you decline yourself love that lasts for years or a few decades, which is still very valuable while it's going on.
SW-User
@NerdyPotato the truth it's that it's always an unknown territory but it's worth it... Like there's no warranties.
I agree with you
lipstickguy · 61-69, M
my parents are still together and married 66 years last April
lipstickguy · 61-69, M
@SW-User @SW-User yes
SW-User
@lipstickguy how old are they?
lipstickguy · 61-69, M
@SW-User she is 84 and he is 87
AdaXI · 41-45, T
Yes still very possible although more likely people will just give up at the first hurdle these days.

Love is something that comes from the inside, not the outside. In other words, it's something you give.

So to answer the question directly, no because how incredibly selfish, self-centered, narcissistic and entitled people's characters have become in these contemporary 'modern' times we live in. No one reaches out anymore, they expect love to be handed to them like a commodity that is bought and sold in the marketplace.
Classified · M
Why wouldn't it? It is common in my family to be honest.
Classified · M
@SW-User Parents, brother and sister mostly. And at least one aunt whom I trust to have a good marriage still.
I see my parents often, though I have my own place.
SW-User
@Classified okay hope that they have always good and lasting relationships
Classified · M
@SW-User I'm expecting them to have
Spumoni · 46-50, M
There was a time I believed it was possible, and I was living it. I was delusional.
Jeephikelove · 51-55, F
I absolutely believe in that.
SW-User
@Jeephikelove and it's weird because when one is a dreamer haha realizing about those things kinda is tough 😖😬
Jeephikelove · 51-55, F
@SW-User you’re so right
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
I think it might exist for some, but it was never meant for me.
MyNameIsHurl · 41-45, F
Yes definitely but it takes effort
SW-User
@MyNameIsHurl yup and a great connection

It is possible and not rare at all. I am experiencing it, and most of my circle of friends have been happily married more than 40 years.
SW-User
@exexec old people like yourself and your friends perhaps are more committed Idk but with the rates or divorces don't seem to prove your theory and that not even counting the ones that aren't happy together but staying
exexec · 61-69, C
@SW-User I'm sure it's more common with us old people, but divorce rates are misleading. One person can have several divorces, skewing the results.
Beautywithin · 36-40, F
I'd like to think so but love is hard you have to work on it and the problem is in the end normally one wants too but the other don't.
Rokasu · 36-40, M
I may love to myself every night so yeah 😏
SW-User
@Rokasu and what about the days? 👀
SW-User
@Rokasu you usually make me laugh with your replies...
Thank u 💚 😁😁😁
Rokasu · 36-40, M
@SW-User I'm not sure you want to know lol
SW-User
What do you want to last, the feeling of the relationship?
SW-User
@SW-User "me"? I was talking about a conversation with another person
SW-User
I think its still possible
OnePatheticClown · 51-55, M
No, not anymore.
Montanaman · M
Most just don't have what it takes to make it work. To make it life long and ever-lasting.
🤣😂🤣😂😂😂🤣
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
Definitely for me, I just need to find someone who shares that idea
SW-User
@MartinTheFirst i do and don't at the same time, but is nice to see some having it
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
Of course. Why not?
SW-User
Unfortunately so many people destroy themselves trying to attach this fantasy to a reality that doesn’t support it and a person incapable of matching it

You’re right that it is rare and it isn’t something that is in all of us.

It also is based in an unromantic reality of commitment to another person’s well being and hard work
SW-User
@SW-User very well said, thank you 💙💙💙
empanadas · 31-35, M
Yeah but I noticed that most people nowdays confuse lust with love. Love is a lot of work. Alot of up and downs. Forgiveness and patience, things most people don't have nowdays.
empanadas · 31-35, M
@SW-User I think it's because we live in a world that everything is way too easy. Now we can order food from an app and not have to take time to prepare it. Social media also ruined people's patience as well. My parents used to mail each other letters when they lived in different countries. Now within seconds you can talk to someone from anywhere around the world. Everybody wants everything now but good things take more time.
empanadas · 31-35, M
