I never understood it before...

...fear of cockroaches.

But thank you Google.

Okay, so the cockroaches we get here are mostly flightless, and look waaaay different to American ones.

Ours...
Usually small, often less than an inch. Sometimes you see a big bastard.
No wings, often shiny like a bug.

America
The fucker FLIES 🫪....largest of the species, somwtimes up to 2 inches,
...and frankly, it looks evil .

You poor bastards

@caPnAhab I chick stupid night crawlers back into the yard so they don't dry out and die.
How can you just do that.. to me. 😭 just seeing it I am panicking. They are so big and strong they can rattle water bottles in a water bottle pack.

I know I can sound super dramatic, but I could never dream something like that up. They are very scary, fast, and strong.

Nothing has ever made me lose my composure and dignity the way those guys do. 🥹 I have had multiple unfortunate encounters with them while living there.

They live outside, but they did come inside sometimes and I will never forget those moments.

But the weird part is, I still felt bad for them.. they are just trying to survive too, but if they could just plz go survive somewhere far away from me. 😭 @OogieBoogie

A lot of cockroachs fly...more so up north like Queensland...and to a lesser extent in the Apple Isle where the common one doesn't.
@KiwiBird i was just reading that the american one has made its way past quarantine.

Awesome 😑

@OogieBoogie The American Cockroach is widespread in Australia.

cockroach American

The American cockroach (Periplaneta americana) is not native to the Americas. Despite its name, it originated in Africa and the Middle East and was likely introduced to the Americas via ships during the 17th-century slave trade. Arrived in Australia via trading ships from either from America or Africa in the 1700's.

Not surprised if they don't particularly bother you though. I mean you've got half the worlds most poisonous creepy crawlies and the mega menace that is Neil the Seal to worry about🤯
