It does not sit well with me when people dismiss Stephen King's works as "pulp".

The King multiverse is not only deep, existential, and psychological, but he maintained these intricate storylines and their connections to each other even as he was battling drug and alcohol addiction. He barely remembers writing several of his books.

He draws upon his own fears, his own psyche, and his own insecurities to create horrifying plots and characters. His books are about regular folks dealing with the supernatural while going through everyday life and experiencing mundane events. The man is a genius if you ask me. I feel blessed to be alive during his lifetime.

I agree. I have grown up with Stephen King. His books are about deeper things like The Shining is about his fear of alcoholism and losing control.

I love the internal narration of his characters as well.

He is one of those few people I would like to meet in a way.

I am already dreading his passing.

@JimboSaturn I feel the exact same way
I love his work, I don't care what others say. They're exciting, immersive, scary and intense. Just what I like. And the characters are interesting. Whether someone calls them airport books or not, it's irrelevant. I enjoy them a lot. And literally want to read everything he had written. One of my goals.

I love his works!!! Genuinely think anyone who says that hasn’t actually read much by him. Not saying you have to like everything an author writes, but he is one of the best at his craft IMO.

Totally agree 100%

Agreed. In my opinion, he will become a literary master to many generations to come. A book like "The Stand" is a standout.

@SleepingWithGhosts I find a common theme in his books is that there is another reality from the everyday shadowing our lives.

I have never read anything but I presume I have seen a few of the film adaptations.

As a writer he's good at making money.
