I still can't believe, in retrospect, how many american conservatives have gone from pretending to support freedom & democracy to supporting russia as

it invades a sovereign state
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
It's this crazy dynamic of "owning the libs." I'm not sure the people who are most vocal about supporting Russia are actually Conservatives; I believe they have simply cloaked themselves in the label for their own manipulative convenience to present a position that is contrary to what both liberals and "real" conservatives actually believe.

It is a bit of an exaggeration, but these manipulative creeps could easily present beheadings and public hangings as justified justice regardless that it is "cruel and unusual" as a way to rally support (and viewers) to "own the libs."

"The base" wants vengeance and the manipulators see that as a way to corral a group of voters (and viewers) easily and effortlessly. Look for these manipulators to expand on their disdain for granting public defenders to those accused of heinous criminal acts while at the same time advocating a strict claim of love for the Constitution which grants such protection.

It doesn't surprise me. Putin is a nationalist, Zelensky is a globalist progressive. To them, Putin is fighting the progressive Jewish "new world order". They admire him as a strongman, like Trump. They (those conservatives who support Putin) don't support democracy. They support nationalist, theocratic autocracy. There's no way they would oppose someone like Trump becoming a dictator. They wanted an election overthrown, after all.

I speak only for myself but I don’t support either side really, I simply want the shooting to stop and take the dispute to the table.

In the absence of any other reliable information, I cannot see anything other than Russia’s invasion as a fact and that’s Putin is evil.
BlueVeins · 22-25
@redredred I think I respect that. Ukraine has deep-seated flaws, but I generally support them here because their only strategic goal is to maintain control over their own territory. It was pretty fucked how they banned several political parties a couple days ago though.
They were faking being pro-democracy the whole time from my experience. The fascism was always there at least in potential.
BlueVeins · 22-25
@canusernamebemyusername but like how does this large a group of people manage to collectively lie? Do they know that they're doing it?

Showing their true colors.

Anything to oppose the democrats.
If the left(using this term loosely) were in support of Russia, they would support ukraine.
Most are clueless as to what is going on or why. Look at how many question the validity of the video we see and the accounts we hear.
Longpatrol · 31-35, M
A sizeable minority of them have become absolutely fucking crazy so I'm not surprised.
BlueVeins · 22-25
@Longpatrol man they just keep one-upping themselves
Longpatrol · 31-35, M
@BlueVeins It's likely the next administration will be a Republican one, so the levels of batshit insane are gonna be something to witness
I'm not surprised at all. They stood by Trump when he tried to blackmail Ukraine into helping him cheat in an election, then after Trump lost anyway, they stood by him when he tried to overturn the election. Conservatism is a form of Fascism.
