I like my boots, but I will take them off if it enhances the walk. The rivers near where I live are shallow enough to walk along the beds in the summer. I can take off my boots and socks and get a new perspective on old surroundings 🙂
@SunshineGirl Walking barefoot certainly enchances any hike just the feeling of all the different textures and temperatures under bare soles makes it feel somewhat special
@fanuc2013 Well yes in areas and situations that allow that is the preferred option. Sometimes though a hiking trail can be too busy to allow fully bare hiking
I like going barefoot on the beach even on the rocks ( the rocky coast of Maine) most of our beaches are rocky but I’m not hiking on many trails around here barefoot. A few years ago maybe but now the tic problem and Lyme has me thinking more.
When I was in my late teens being barefoot was sort of a thing among my contemporaries. I got to the point where I could crush out lit cigarettes with my bare feet. Today it hurts to walk on my paved driveway.
@CrazyMusicLover Well apart from the snakes which i think can be walked around i can and do walk on sharp stones, nettles and brambles barefoot without much fuss
