Panama Canal Supply Line Issues…Yikes…

40% of USA’s cargo shipments passes through the Panama Canal. The water levels are so low that only 26 ships are allowed through a day now… down from over 500 per day.

Sounds like a plan to me. 😖 So where's all the water from the melting polar caps?
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Iwillwait We lived with a lot less plastics than we use today and could do it again. Things might have to get much simpler too but we could do it.
AngelofFail · 26-30, F
@Iwillwait the water levels in the canal arent related to the sea levels but the the ground water levels in the surrounding lands

@AngelofFail I understand, I was being snarky.

What do you mean? The politicians keep saying that the global warming is melting the ice caps and causing the seas to rise, how can this be possible the canal is low on water?
AngelofFail · 26-30, F
@accidentprone yeah its always corruption and short time profits instead of long term planning and a solid foundation

@AngelofFail I have to totally agree. Too Bad we have too many Normy Norm's and Normy Norma's that believe the most prevalent news organizations.

Intentional supply chain disruption?

@BizSuitStacy I have no idea. But it sounds like Babylon is about to crash & burn
@cherokeepatti I just read an article that is blaming climate change...(In my Gomer Pyle voice) Surprise! Surprise! Surprise!

Rising temps have led to lower rainfall, causing reduced water supplies in reservoirs used to control the canal. 🙄 I smell male bovine manure.

Wait...I thought ocean levels are rising and places like Florida are going to be underwater. Even Panama for the same reason? What am I not being told truthfully?????!!!!!

@MarineBob Try to find locally made stuff. Not candles and goat milk soaps either.

@MarineBob I remember how many cap factories there were in this country in the 60’s … almost all moved to China. Used to have a jeans factory in the next county. Right now fabric stores are closing and it’s getting a lot harder to find affordable fabrics to sew with for those home crafters who can make and sell things. Getting to the point that cheap used clothing may be a source of fabrics for crafting and children’s clothing. Basic materials for making things will be much harder to get unless we have sources here to get some of them. We need to sending recycling to China and use it here. And stores stop throwing cases of good merchandise in the dumpsters whic is very common.

@MarineBob It may get to the point we’ll have to have things repaired to get a few more years usage instead of replaced and updated. Cobbled together with handmade parts in some cases like they do in Cuba. I am old enough to remember when there were repair shops for small appliances and other things. Hang onto clothing as long as we can, have shoes and boots resoled for example.

cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Patriot96 they can say anything they want, doesn’t make it true.
