Panama Canal Supply Line Issues…Yikes…

40% of USA’s cargo shipments passes through the Panama Canal. The water levels are so low that only 26 ships are allowed through a day now… down from over 500 per day.

What do you mean? The politicians keep saying that the global warming is melting the ice caps and causing the seas to rise, how can this be possible the canal is low on water?

@accidentprone Oh you’re someone who believes these politicians aren’t you?
accidentprone · 22-25, M
@cherokeepatti I believe none of them
AngelofFail · 26-30, F
@accidentprone you have no idea how canals work right ?
accidentprone · 22-25, M
@AngelofFail Please tell me if I am wrong, but if the sea level and tide is high, I would suppose the water in the canal would continue to support the ships sailing upon it. I would expect that the sea level remains mostly the same except during tides, am I wrong?
AngelofFail · 26-30, F
@accidentprone the water in the canal isnt connected directly with the sealevel but its a series of floodgates and the waterlevel is solely connected to the surrounding groundwater levels. so even if the sea water levels would raise something ridiculous like 10m it has no effect on the canal.

@AngelofFail So it seems the water level in the canal is governed by man not nature.
So I see this as man is the problem.
AngelofFail · 26-30, F
@accidentprone yes it is... they are not maintaining the canal properly
accidentprone · 22-25, M
@AngelofFail They don't do anything properly
AngelofFail · 26-30, F
@accidentprone yeah its always corruption and short time profits instead of long term planning and a solid foundation

@AngelofFail I have to totally agree. Too Bad we have too many Normy Norm's and Normy Norma's that believe the most prevalent news organizations.
