About at what point in replacing pieces of a ship does it stop being what it was/original.

And I've honestly lost count.

There isn’t less. We miss some parts and welcome new ones. We are only diminished if that’s how we see ourselves.

Some naivety lost, some wisdom and armor against those who handle us carelessly gained. Altered dreams that no longer fit properly and need some tailoring.

No actively growing thing stops at a given time. Maybe the sunlight it was growing toward is blocked by some object, but it doesn’t stop growing. It seeks the sun again from a different angle.

There is less of the trusting child, there is still this glow that feels warm although the warmth may be painful, this ability to love that feels painful because it is embracing the dead as well as the living.

As many times as it takes.

I'd say indefinitely but we start being more careful because we know we're not held together like we were. I'm always surprised what I can make it through.

I put myself back together the best I could this last time - I didn't think I could. But there are pieces missing. I'll never be the same.

Should be easier, no?

Maybe less of who I once was… but more room and empty spaces for who I can become.

You replace the lost and broken parts.

I don’t think there’s less, just different. We are always becoming someone else to some degree. Some of my best pieces have been glued on with pain.
