Do/Can you shop at a place with a rewards program, especially one w a discount gas option?
Soups and stews, casseroles, etc help stretch and can be more filling.
Shop meat case mark downs to use right away or freeze? Day old bakery items, bakery outlet stores. blemish fruits/vegetables at stores /farm stands.
Sam's / Costco wholesale clubs can offer some deals and offer some options for reduced cost add-on memberships.
If you have a greater need, community or church based food banks or food pantries might also be able to provide some help if your situation qualifies.

@BrandNewMan I do use discount programs now :) I get rewards at a few of my grocery stores. I also use Costco a lot for bulk items I don't have a Sam's club in my area. I love making soups it's one of my favorites especially in fall and winter.

@SlippingAway Sounds like you are on top of it.
Stuffed shells and stuffed bell peppers are pretty budget friendly, can be Mexican or Italian and were well received in our house when our sons were growing up
Good luck!

Cook some hamburger, then add it to the beans, then add some barbecue sauce.
If you have refrigerated biscuits, put them on top, along with some shredded cheese.
It is also good without the biscuits and cheese.
You can also chop up an onion to cook with the meat, if you have one.

Ramen with soft boiled eggs. That's less than $2 each meal.
RosaMarie · 46-50, F
Buy and roast a whole chicken. Should be less than $10 for the bird and it will last several meals.
PatientlyWaiting25 · 46-50, F
@RosaMarie can also use the bones to make a chicken soup.
RosaMarie · 46-50, F
@PatientlyWaiting25 Exactly.

Rice and beans was the basis of global poverty cuisine for hundreds of years, and for good reason. Cheap, easy, and palatable if properly spiced.

two packets of top ramen, a can of corn, three eggs, and shredded cheese.
Boil the ramen with a can of corn, juice included, add the seasoning packets, when boiling scramble three eggs into it, drain, add the shredded cheese, enjoy. You can substitute with other veggies too, like green beans, or peas and carrits.
