I am terrified.

My thoughts about life are keeping me awake. My 41st birthday was July 21st, and I’m freaking out. Where has all the time gone? What am I doing with my life? Do I still have time to change it without rushing? Will I wake up tomorrow 80 years old with nothing accomplished? I’m totally flipping out in a very bad way, and trying to keep myself together without having a complete meltdown.

Me: Living with those same sentiments for 10 years now.

@IamCuriousBabe I must extend my sympathies from afar. Please take care and I hope you accomplish great things.

@PoisonLace Soldiering on. Belated happy birthday. 🎈🎂

@IamCuriousBabe thank you.
You just need to hit the EMERGENCY button, and start living life as if there is no tomorrow. There is all the time in the world, and you can start using others' time too for one thing that people lend easily is time. Worry when you wake up to be 42 years old and nothing accomplished and not about 80 years old.. Imagine living 40 years this way to reach 80.

I truly identify. I myself turned 41 this year and I feel very behind others my age. I have PTSD though so I know why but it doesn't make it better. I watch everyone I used to know on social media going on vacays, having kids, dating, and most are married. I have no money for vacay, no job and no bf. I feel no guy would ever want a person with as much anxiety as me. It really sucks to feel so hopeless. I started therapy again so I hope to gain some confidence tools. I know how you feel. And I know that accomplishments do not matter as MUCH as feeling joy about WHO we are...and you are perfect as you are NOW!!!!! 🌼
I'm 61 and I ask the same question sometimes.
I would like to think that there is always time to change.
PoisonLace · 41-45, F
@BridgeOvertroubledWaters agreed, and definitely hope to still have time.
@PoisonLace you have plenty of time.
Never too early to start.
Remember , it's best to try ASAP because no one knows till when they'll be around.
On the other hand , for me , life has always been too busy , the rat race always too intense , and therefore unfortunately I hae never really been able to make the change.
DON'T learn from me.

Being there for others is sufficient.

Enjoy the beauty of the Earth.

@jshm2 yes, I agree, and would love to change my life. I’ve been working towards it and getting stuck every time, but still trying.
A life without purpose. Just get out of the life that you are in and get on to another. The train you are in is going nowhere, so just get off and wait for another that needs you.

Good that you got the realisation atleast now.

@in10RjFox trust me, I’m trying. There’s just a bit of bad luck.

Being able to comprehend life at any level is a dawn of awarenessthat is well worth the effort. Some people go their entire lives without ever wonderingwhat the hell they're doing. 40 yrsis not a bad time to see this.

Now that you are worrying, and rightly so, you have the choice of letting the turmoil in your emotions to run its course or use it as a trigger for taking action in your life.

Things you should do: calm down, because fear and worry cause you to make poor decisions. Remind yourself that you still have time.

Then you may start putting down everything you want to accomplish to make your life more meaningful to you. That's a good start.

I understand this feeling. I am 45 and looking at my life like… wtf.. I always lived it in a carefree way, and now I wish I had more time to invest in doing things that matter like cleaning up the plastic islands in the ocean. But I am stuck in the career path I have chosen and shackled to my bills. If only something could change…

It's scary how fast time flies
PoisonLace · 41-45, F
@deadgerbil if you truly are in your twenties, I must warn you, it does get worse. I feel emotionally sick just thinking about it. I don’t want to scare you, but it is the sad truth. I hope you are doing well in your life with your accomplishments and in happiness. This is me being completely genuine.
deadgerbil · 26-30, M
@PoisonLace I've already felt it. Like the time between me being 18 to 24 now went by so fast and I am not looking forward to the march to 30. I hate aging so much.
PoisonLace · 41-45, F
@deadgerbil for me it’s the clock. I try not to think about it. But it feels like my 40th birthday was last week.
Peterpaul17 · 36-40, M

Sounds like a personal life review is order.
Stop screwing around here and get to it.

You're a 'late bloomer' - but you can catch up.
You sound motivated.
