I have about 8 years before I can retire with maximum benefits.

I've been trying to build up enough nerve to make the jump and try to get some voiceover work. I just haven't been brave enough to take the plunge yet.

And I'm working on self-publishing the last novel I wrote, as I already lost out on two publishers who had contracted to publish it and backed out. If I do that, maybe I can shake things loose and write another book or more. That would be great.

We'll see how that goes.

@DunningKruger Wow! You like voice over work and writing, too? I've yet to get anything published, but I've got a collection of short stories gathering dust somewhere.

@LordShadowfire I self published a collection of my short fiction a number of years ago. It was really more of an experiment to see how that sort of thing worked, as well as giving the wife something special for her birthday that year. I never really promoted it at all, and I don't think I've ever actually sold a copy, although I did happen to see a copy on the shelf of a local used bookstore once, so I guess I must have.

@DunningKruger I've been afraid to take the step of publishing, which is kind of dumb, because the worst thing that happens is nobody sees the book, and that's what's going on now anyway.

@LordShadowfire Exactly.
