Tell me the part again how you used to walk in the snow, uphill both ways, to return a book. I love that part of the story.

@MaBalzEsHari Busy fantasizing again, I see.

@MarkPaul

Not my story. Heck the way things are changing, you should have some stories of what was now, but hope you live to be considered an aged elder to tell stories

@Charity That's the point, isn't it? Each generation ends up romanticizing his/her past. And this has been done... forever. People who came of age in the 1940's claim "their" music was the best. Those from the 1950's claim they don't make music like back in "their" day anymore. Boomers from the 1960's talk about "their" music like a religious experience. Those from the 1970's believe "their" music was some golden age. And, on and on and on. That's just one example. People will claim they don't make things like they used to, oblivious to the FACT that whatever "used to" means to them, is a point of reference for people older to them about things made during a time they are romanticizing. For example, if one group of people claim they don't make cars like they used to in the 1950's, you can bet another group make the same claim but referring to cars made in the 1940's.

It doesn't negate the feelings that any generation feels about "their time" but it casts doubt on the accuracy of those feelings. I am just making the observation, to your consternation, that this seems to be the way humans express grandiosity. It's not bad - or good. It's just interesting. Don't be so defensive about it. You are in the company of all other humans.

I absolutely agree!! Some of it's because of transglutaminase, or meat glue. I think ground beef ends up with quite a bit of it, and it makes it taste like cardboard.

😫 I have been craving a really good steak for about a week now, but it's so expensive! 😭 Plus, finding a truly good piece of beef is a toss up, grocery store quality kind of sucks!

Rubbed with salt and pepper, fried in butter with rosemary or thyme and some chopped garlic...🤤

It is now legal to add 30% water to ground meat. Meaning you are only buying about 2/3 of a pound of actual meat for every pound you pay for. That is why you see 1/3 shrinkage.

@MaBalzEsHari yep between water and fat. I bought ground beef from a well-known store once in the 5 lb tube and it was so full of fat it was ridiculous, oh you could see was white, I cooked it for my dog.

@Iwillwait oh it's NOW being shipped out, I hear more about tainted fruit, and tainted greens, tainted lettuce then I do painted meat.

From what I heard the US stopped imported beef coming in from Mexico in November of 2024. And as of NOW still not importing beef from Mexico over the screw worm parasite.

@Charity Hope it stays enforced.

I eat a ton of avocado and bananas from MX, I am not that concerned about that. Most of the food in MX is far superior to our food in not having tons of chemicals and additives.

@Iwillwait

Yes hopefully and most likely it will, until the US is sure the beef is worm free.

There was a recall on avocados shipped from California to a few States in the early part of this year and those from Mexico were not affected. Listeria found in the packing plant.
