When Ground Beef Didn't Shrink

There was a time if you made a 5 inch ground beef patty for hamburger after you cooked it / it was almost still a 5 inch patty.

Today you make a 5 inch patty and it'll shrink to around 3 and 1/2 inches, and that's with the 80% less fat.

There was no ground chuck, no round ground, no 80% less fat, just plain old ground beef, and much more tastier.

Today's world less for more

Tell me the part again how you used to walk in the snow, uphill both ways, to return a book. I love that part of the story.

@MarkPaul About everyone..........regardless of age misses how a lot of things used to be compared to now. When a pound of coffee was 16 ounces.....not 12. And a pound of ground meat was a pound...........not 30% water added. And potato chips bags had potato chips in them......not air...for a higher price still. Because you don't remember when things were better..............don 't mean they never were.

@MaBalzEsHari Yeah, I get that. But it is also possible to fall into a vicious loop of think everything was better back in the day. If we extend your behaviour to a 36-40 year-old back when you think things were better, I would bet with mighty assurance that he/she thought things were even better back in her/his day and so forth going back to each prior generation.

In other words, there seems to be a tendency to romanticize the past with irrational exuberance.

@MaBalzEsHari There used to be an entire group of people who were treated as substandard and water-hosed when they tried to be recognized as fully human. There used to be outright pollution of city streets, waterways, and the ocean with no oversight and no consequences. Slaughterhouses used to be a meatpacking "jungle." There used to be kidnappings, murder for "the thrill of it" and in "cold blood." College used to be the place to go to be trained in conformity. And people used to die horrible deaths just for reaching the tender age of 36-40.

Stop romanticizing the past and learn to live in the present while being in wonder of the future. Life on earth is never perfect. It never has been, and it never will be. Unless you plan to become a time traveler, you are stuck here. Make the most of it.

@MaBalzEsHari I have life experience Mr. Balzeshari. And I understand how the world works. And, unlike you I use my manners and demonstrate adult behaviour.

Perhaps you should take the time to learn about life.
