Forget about the past and do what you want now. Nobody is going to stop you but you.

@Ashly Now’s a critical time to work on your thought process and mental health then. The truth is that you can do anything you put your mind to, if you know how to properly put your mind to it.
There is a great book called The Courage to be Disliked which I found very helpful in properly centering my mind.
You can’t change the worst moments of your life. But they’re gone now, and don’t really matter anymore.

@DefNotTravelguy I’ll look into
It
I’ve been wanting to read something new or helpful recently and that sounds like it might be it
I might also call out today from work, maybe I need a personal mental health day

I think there is some benefit that can come from this. You can’t change the past but you can be better prepared for future encounters that may share similarities

@ShepherdBard thats something I’ve been seeing in the comments
I can better prepare for future situations like this 😕
Thank you Bardy, what everyone keeps telling me about you is wrong
You are a decent human being 🫶🥹

It's a way of learning from ones mistakes. Instead of "should have could have" you can turn it into "if something similar happens again I can/will..."
Even if it's something that could never happen again (for whatever reason) it teaches your brain to think of alternate solutions more efficiently, which in turn will help you in different situations in the future.

@BarbossasHusband that’s a great way to look at things 🤔
I’ll keep that in mind next time I feel like this 😕

I've always been that way too. 🤔

It's possibly past trauma that you still need to deal with. In therapy, we do revisit traumatic events until it no longer hurts. Perhaps it's just part of the grieving process and you processing it instinctively.

@basilfawlty89 I’ve had therapy in the past and it did work for me
But moments like this come around a few times a year 😭

@Ashly just remember it's okay to not be okay. You got this. If you ever need to talk, I'd be happy to listen.
Ashly · 26-30, F
