I had a very strange dream about my dad last night.

We were at his viewing. He was in the casket and people were going up to view his body. He looked how every dead person looks - skin not right, mouth pulled too wide, older than they are. Someone touched him and his eyes opened. He opened his mouth to breathe. He looked around confused and unaware of where we were. Within five minutes I watched him take a final breath again. Except it wasn’t final because this process kept repeating. They wanted to immediately continue onto the funeral service, and I screamed “how am I supposed to cremate him when he’s clearly not dead?!”

Then I woke up.

@brainrapist so sorry to hear this. It must be difficult still. My father was my favorite family member

i had a somewhat similiar dream once about my mom. we had her body and the family was around trying to plan a funeral then she starts speaking. she's not making any sense but she's talking and i'm trying to listen to her and her input and everyone's looking at me like i'm the crazy one for wanting to listen

@brainrapist and of course to clairfy i'm not trying to make a post about dreams youve had of your father who you've lost into a post about dreams i've had about my mom who i've lost. i just wanted you to know youre not alone and grief dreams can sometimes be reassuring or outright nightmarish. i believe we dream to help ourselves process our thoughts and feelings. i don't know the relationship youve had with your dad and so it's not my place to speculate on your behalf. i believe my dream was about having a hard time accepting she's really gone (why she came back to life) and how she often went unheard (no one understood her or tried to understand when she spoke)
