Sometimes suicide is preventable. Sometimes it is not. I refuse to blame myself for my son's suicide. I did not see it coming nor did any of his friends and other family. He came to visit one sunny afternoon and with his usual grin said "I'm bored, I am going home now". We never saw him again.

You should refuse to blame yourself because it’s not your fault
Often times it is the people that we lease suspect
And I am terribly sorry that you had to go through that

@DeluxedEdition The problem with your post like so many others I have seen is that it blames the victim. When a suicide happens you may or may not have a clue that it is about to happen. If you are not aware of it then such posts as the one you put up implies that you were not vigilant enough to know when to intervene. Such is pure nonsense. I have talked others down from their suicide attempts so I am not unaware of the possibility but.......

@YoMomma it’s a heavy topic but it’s important we are educated about these issues as a society. That way we can identify and hopefully prevent these things from happening. 🙏

It’s heartbreaking.
I had to have a talk with my daughter (11) because a child at her school was bullied until he killed himself. And I can tell she was deeply bothered by it because she constantly talks about it.
It makes me tear up, thinking that a child was so hurt that he wanted to take his own life. I think about his family and his brother.

@DeluxedEdition It bothers me deeply also. But I certainly understand why he did it.

@DeluxedEdition Its so hard for this generation coming thru.
With the internet, covid happening - they just havent had the chance to build emotional resilience like previous generations.
This makes them vulnerable.
Then you have online social platforms that allows people to be unaccountably vicious ......and it becomes poison.
Poison that eats away at them.
I think about it sometimes.
I mean, i have a disabeld child, and that was its own set of new rules.
But they were more obvious ones.
I wouldn't want to be a parent now - its a whole new set of unspoken and hidden developmental hurdles to deal with...
.....and psychology, (and law enforcement), hasn't caught up to deal with it functionally.
This gen have so much more.....but they also have exteme levels of 'never before seen' stressors, at WAY too young an age to be anywhere experienced enough to deal with.
I dont understand why this shocking statistic isnt ringing alarm bells !🤷♀
