THIS is One of the Reasons Why I'm So Opposed to Euthanasia!

Suicide pods in Switzerland. Oh, how convenient and easy! No mess, no fuss. Absolutely disgusting.

There's no such thing as "dying with dignity", because it's always undignified, but now they're trying to encourage people to accept this option.

@Guardian Those pods in Switzerland. You know, the ones I mention above. It's in the video you obviously didn't watch.
@Bel6EQUJ5 i did watch it. To my knowledge, NO Canadian has used a Suicide Pod. Do you know of any countries, anywhere outside of Switzerland? And why are Suicide Pods going too far if a country approves medically-assisted suicide?
@Guardian In Canada they don't use pods, but as I understand it, things in that country have reached an extreme as well.

It is a slippery slope. And this example is near the bottom of the slope. People in Switzerland can use this suicide pod to off themselves if they don’t have enough money for money expenses. So much for human compassion and helping others through a rough patch eh?
@ffony Oh dear. Someone who isn't familiar with his fallacies. A 'straw man' argument is when you try to challenge a position that your opponent isn't actually making. That is, you deliberately misrepresent their position in order to defeat an easier claim, because the actual claim that is being made you don't have an answer for.
Maybe you meant 'slippery slope'.
ffony · M
@Bel6EQUJ5 Slope? Nope. My understanding - and/or use of the phrase 'straw man' is less persnickety, but I suppose you do know what I was getting at?

@Bel6EQUJ5 Just for fun I 'looked it up' ...

An insubstantial concept, idea, endeavor or argument, particularly one deliberately set up to be weakly supported, so that it can be easily knocked down; especially to impugn the strength of any related thing or idea.

Sounds like pretty much what I was seeing.

What if you have a terminal disease?
SumKindaMunster · 56-60, M
I feel like adverting something like this is extremely distasteful, if you are interested in this service you will do the research, no need to entice people to commit suicide.
@SumKindaMunster Exactly! It's like they want people to end their lives, and without first seeking help.
SumKindaMunster · 56-60, M
@Bel6EQUJ5 They have it in Canada to, they advertise this service as well. It's pretty dystopian and upsetting.

When the alternative is dying badly from some incurable condition, give me the pod.

Nobody forces you to use it, just don't take the option away from anyone who wants.
@Elessar I break it, tough luck.
ABCDEF7 · M
In US alone in 2018, 10.7 million American adults seriously thought about suicide, 3.3 million made a plan, and 1.4 million attempted suicide.
@ABCDEF7 Okay. And? You want to make it easier for them? Why? Why not try to help them instead?
ABCDEF7 · M
@Bel6EQUJ5 You get me wrong. I am not in favor of that. I always try to help them at my personal level. I often visit to depression chat sites to help people, and try to help them here too. I am just saying, there were very few use of Suicide pods in Switzerland, but how big the problem is, if we see it in relation to US.

Below is an post I wrote with intention to help people with depression.

It's better than suffering through terminal cancer.
KingofBones1 · 46-50, M
How about a homicide pod do I get an option to put a mother f***** in there and press the button? I say this if someone gets to the point where the pain is unbearable in life and our life belongs to us shouldn't they get to make that decision. I would think so. There should be legal requirements and paperwork to sign but if it's done right I can understand it

Dying is not undignified. We all die one day.

These people have likely sought help many times. Help that didn't do shit for them.

You need to stop believing you know what is best for all. You do not.

Did you know that help isn't a blanket cure for depression and mental health conditions? Do you know that medicine isn't a cure all.
Do you know that the majority of the time the first and second and even third therapist someone sees fails to help and that after that it becomes more difficult to seek help because there has been no luck or improvement because the therapists have failed to connect and or have made things worse?
I bet you didnt know...because all you can think about is how you feel about how other people choose to deal with their own problems.
I called those Liberal Pods when they first came out.
@Dignaga People should stop calling those freaks 'Liberals'. They're not liberal at all, they're authoritarian. A better term would be 'communist'.
@Bel6EQUJ5 Most of the non-authorative liberal movements died out. You have a few non militant anarchist groups like the An-Caps but they choose to blend in with general conservative culture. Rest of the left are bullies who use social coercion and state power to boss people around.
Americans just call it hospice and put you down like a dog we don't want. Nobody is talking bout that.
Sidewinder · 36-40, M
If I were to commit suicide, (and believe me, I attempted to do so in the past) I wouldn't use some futuristic space-age looking pod to do it!

Short of having a terminal disease I can't even fathom this. 😳
Elessar · 31-35, M
@Musicman It's indeed for those having terminal diseases
It's the Eugenic's Society, founded by Margaret Sanger and the aviator, Charles Lindbergh, that's trying to get population control to speed itself up.
@NativePortlander1970 Damn! That's right. 'Atlas Shrugged' by Ayn Rand has that image on the book cover.
@Bel6EQUJ5 And the word Altas for map
@NativePortlander1970 Book of maps. And the Atlas Mountains in Morocco.
