I've found that being sort of prepared only helps some with the shock, but not with the grief. I'm so sorry about your aunt, and the sorrow of all of you who loved her. 😞🕯️

I'm so sorry. Sunday a friend from my 'hood died suddenly. Just sitting on his couch one second, gone the next. Far too young (64).

This one was a gut punch. A real good guy that never had an enemy in his life. A music encyclopedia - you would have liked him

Our entire older generation has been gone for quite a few years now, as is half or my own generation.

My mom was likewise one of many; 9 of them (15 of them when including their spouses), and when the first one of them started having near-fatal circumstances, they started joking about how they would all soon start dropping like flies. When that time came, they did.

My favorite aunt spent her last few years living in a seniors-apartment/independent living community. A pretty active place which she loved. One night she played BINGO with a friend in the community room, then retired for the evening. The next morning that friend knocked on the door to join her for breakfast and there was no response. We "kids" joked that she just went to bed one night and woke up in heaven.

It hurts, and it stirs up all kinds of internal personal thoughts. All of my aunts and uncles are gone, and many cousins.

I'm sorry. If there's any consolation to be had, while you were cheated of a goodbye, she was spared from suffering.
