In the "story" you're speaking of, we play one of two rolls. We are either the 'star' of the movie, or we are the 'supporting actor' FOR the person who IS the star of the movie. It's one or the other throughout our lifetime.
At all times, we are either playing a supporting role in someone else's story, or someone else is playing a supporting role in OUR story, in which case we would then the Main Character of our own story.

Further to that, the ego doesn't actually exist in reality, other than how we choose to have it exist in our illusory perception of it, which means that it is actually you who is wrong here, which obviously means you didn't understand what you were writing about when you posted your OP.
