The woman at the bakery with the confederate flag in a heart tattoo on her wrist.

She saw me looking at it and told me when she was a teen in the 90s she got into line dancing nights in her village hall. She had lots of fun nights and met a guy who she was married to for a time. “Now Americans have decided it’s racist. It’s a bit awkward”

I didn’t know what to say, so I asked if she was going to keep it. She shrugged and said it just reminded her of dancing with her friends. So I smiled, paid for my sausage roll and bag of crisps and left.

I suppose if we live long enough someone will tell us that something from our past is not okay anymore, and we have to make own decisions what to do about it. Based on her reasons I respect hers.

Its a fact that the history of the world is filled with stories of things that happened unfairly, and stories of how people loved, and lost. But the world is also filled with stories of courage, resilience, and hope, and stories that inspire and encourage other people as well. While it is true that these things have happened and we cannot bring back the dead, it is believed that these are the last days, there are telltale signs and if we are strong enough, and walk the narrow path, we will make it to the new earth, which is promised.

And it is also said, that on this new earth, death will be no more... So I have decided to walk the narrow path, to seek the truth, and even on the happy days, be mindful of my choices so that I will be like an ant who gathers during the summer, and is happy during the winter. Things happen to me too, and I often wonder why, but the reward for this patience is Hope which 'is a thing' for those who seek the truth, and work heartily for their higher purpose, even when the sky is clear, and there seems no reason to worry.
