So happy to have power- makes you appreciate the little things!

I just got my power back on after 2 days of no electricity after a bad storm. It made me appreciate the little things that I took for granted, like sleeping in a cool bed with my box fan blowing on me ( I was sleeping in my car a lot with the air conditioning going), charging my phone inside ( had to use my car), using my microwave to heat up my bone broth I drink every morning ( had to drive to a gas station to use their microwave), lighting ( had to use candles and my cell phone flashlight), going to the gym close to my house ( had to drive to a location almost 45 minutes away because my gym had no power). Taking a hot bath- had to take a cold one. So many things we just take for granted! I’m so thankful to have my power back on now! I’m at my gym now and they have no air conditioning and only half power, so it’s miserably hot here working out, but at least it’s right around the corner from my house and I don’t have to drive across town to work out.
Y’all have a great day!

I dread the fact that it's been 4 years since we've been impacted by a major hurricane.
You do not know how well you have your life until something changes it. Have you made any changes to be prepared if or when this happens again?

@PoetryNEmotion Great minds think alike. We loose our electricity every fall.
@Musicman I have temporary power outages in the winter. Nothing much though. Have a generator. Need an outlet for it. A beast it is.

@PoetryNEmotion Yes you do. We have one and it is all set to go. We haven't used it though since we got the RV. It has a 10k watt onboard generator and three roof top AC units.
Glad you got power back. Mine went out a week or so back, and we ran out of water (on a well) within an hour because somebody flushed. A couple of my neighbors have whole house generators that kick on automatically, mine's portable.

@BrewCityBarfly what a nightmare!!
@Mardrae Not really, power was only out a half day. Yours was a nightmare, I'd need to power the generator to run my sump pump, fridge, and some lighting just to keep things from going completely sideways.

{@mardrae] i have glad you have had it sorted yes it is surprise what we take for granted and is like having right arm cut off when you do not have it

@smiler2012 exactly!

I got onto them and told them to get their finger out
deadgerbil · 26-30, M
That would suck a lot. How much gas did you go through using your AC like that?
Mardrae · F
@deadgerbil you mean in my car?
deadgerbil · 26-30, M
@Mardrae yes
Mardrae · F
@deadgerbil maybe half a tank. I was only in there for about an hour or two because there was a fly in my car that kept bothering me 😂

Four years ago our air conditioner broke a few days before the 4th of July. Being a holiday we couldn't get a new unit installed for a week. It was 93 degrees in the house with all the doors open and the fans on. Fortunately we have a RV with a generator and good working air conditioning. We just moved out to the RV for a week. It was nice and cool out there.
